Prof. Turianica comes from Uzhhorod, where he worked as a scientist and teacher at the Faculty of Medicine for 37 years. After coming to Slovakia, he worked at the Department of Nutrition of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.

Prof. Turianica has been engaged in biochemistry research for more than 40 years. In his studies, he focused on the need for iodine for life and, in connection with this, the proper function of the thyroid gland. He studied the functions of the thyroid gland in relation to ecologically conditioned iodine deficiency in the whole range of the animal kingdom, from the smallest animals to large animals, including humans.

The famous statement of prof. Turianica, which is still popular today:

"Where there is iodine, there can be life. Where there is life, there must be iodine."

It was one of the reasons for the creation of the unique patented product Fortuna Vitae - pumpkin oil with active organically bound iodine.

The significance of the Cambridge Awards, which are given every four years, also testifies to the significance of his scientific work. Prof. Ing. Ivan Turianica, DrSc. he won the title of Man of the 21st Century, twice in a row in 2004 and 2008.
